TODAY tonight: Perfect Roast Chicken

1/21/15

I feel empty.  I have finished the Serial podcast, and now what.  NOW WHAT?!  Now I think I'll drive to Baltimore and stalk Woodlawn High School and the Best Buy and Leakin Park because I'm crazy obsessed with figuring this all out.  If you feel the same way, let's discuss in the comments below, ok?  Thanks.  Now we can talk about food...

Earlier in the month, in fact on the first day of the year, Carson made this on the Today Show with Chef Ed Brown.  The recipe intrigued us, because the chicken sits smothered in soy sauce in the fridge for two days prior to cooking.  It's basically a brine of sorts, and the result is a perfectly moist and juicy chicken.  I think from this point on, I will always do this to my chickens, no matter how I roast them!  Recipe here

Do you think Jay did it? I think he did...because Hai knew (from Stephanie) about drug dealing shenanigans that Jay and his family/friends were involved in (more than Jay's petty stuff). Jay was pressured to silence her. And P.S. love your blog, from one MN Badger girl to another!

first off, chicken looks delicious.

second, did you see this in the news yesterday?

there's also a recent interview with jay you can google that's pretty interesting. something is definitely up with that dude.

AHH, Mia, just read that interview. WTF!? Now I'm confused all over again, and might believe him more?! Maybe??

As they mentioned on Serial, the ONLY actual evidence (speculation-free) tending to go against Adnan is the fact that Jay knew where Hae's car was. Besides that, there is literally not a single piece of evidence proving Adnan's guilt. Every single other point is pure speculation. Even if Adnan's innocence can't be undoubtedly proven (though I think he's innocent), there is faaaarrrrrr from enough evidence to convict him beyond a reasonable doubt. My two cents!! I thought the interviews with Jay were basically useless, and all I got from it was that Jay is terrified for the case to be reopened and scared for his family's safety. He has struck me as untruthful since moment one...

As a juror, I would NOT have found him guilty. Waaaaay too much unreasonable doubt. But, I also have doubt about his innocence?! I feel like everyone is lying - TO ME. I'm taking this very personally as you can see.

Oh my god yes! I just finished it and need to talk. Here's my theory.

Jay and some accomplice did it. Maybe it was one of Jay's weird drug friend that threatened him somehow and he participated, which is why Jay knows the details of where her car is, etc. He blames Adnan because he has to blame somebody besides himself and can't blame his weird drug friend because duh. Adnan is so freaking innocent it makes me angry. Anyway, that's just me.

While not as good at Serial, check out the podcast 'Criminal'

Btw, I think Adnan is guilty and the story is pretty close to what happened.

In the end, I was like Sarah and didn't have a for sure verdict either. Just a lot of doubts. I'm super interested what comes of this now, especially if they'll get to test DNA evidence.

What do you think season 2 will be about?

Not sure if he's innocent or not but he should not have been convicted! Not interviewing Asia McLean and having the prosecution provide a lawyer to Jay is just shady!!! I hope he gets a chance to prove otherwise!

On another note, that chicken is great. I always stuff mine with lemons and onions and makes it super moist!
