Hey dudes, Brother Dylan here! I really wanted toast this morning and didn't have any butter, so I decided to take a break from booze for a second and make my own. I never realized how easy it is until I tried it. 2 1/2 cups of heavy cream and 1 cup of all natural (apparently that's important) sour cream. Thanks Alex Guarneschelli, or however you spell your last name. Enjoy the video...

So how do you think this would work with my hand held mixer??
Wow Dylan, this video was riveting. Do you really have matching pink mixers with your sister? :) And how long did it actually mix for - I want to try this.
haha, It's Jessica's mixer! It mixes for about 10-15 minutes, basically just until the solids separate from the liquids. Then you put it in a double layer of cheese cloth, form it into a ball, squeezing out as much liquid as you can, and then drop it in an ice bath to form up! The liquid left over is buttermilk, and Jessica used it to make cornbread.
sweet....
hand mixer might be tough, but It should work. Just maybe tiresome on your arms!
I wonder why it is necessary to add sour cream? Also, I'm trying to imagine using one of those butter churns back in the day.
