Sirious Experiment: Chocolate & Banana Turnovers

6/11/11

The other day I noticed we had 14 bananas in the house. That is not an exaggeration, we are half-monkey. As much as I actually do believe we need 11 bananas nearby at all times, 14 is a bit much. So I decided to try making something with a few of them. And who doesn't like this combo...

Well, monkeys probably don't care for chocolate. Stupid slender active animals. Anyway, I've had phyllo dough in my freezer since I made THESE, almost a year ago. (If phyllo dough expires, let me know, because I'm under the impression it lasts for at least two hundred years.) Here's what I threw together... and I literally mean that, it took me like 7 minutes.

There was nothing BAD about this, but I'm calling it a Sirious Experiment because it was missing something. More chocolate, more banana, maybe some Nutella and perhaps a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar. Next time. But siriously folks, this was easy and it looks impressive. Especially if you're feeding it to a monkey.

place one phyllo sheet on a flat surface, brush with melted butter, place a second sheet on top, more butter, repeat with a third...

with sheets facing you, lengthwise, cut into four strips... put bananas and chocolate chips in the lower right corner of each...

take bottom left corner and fold over stuffing... keep folding, until you're left with triangles...

place on a baking sheet, brush all over with melted butter, sprinkle with sugar...

bake in a 350 degree oven for 10 minutes or until golden...

let cool before serving (would be good with ice cream, mmm)...
