A Tale of Thanksgivings Gone By...

11/5/10

Once Upon A Time, I was not always the sensible, composed, businesswoman you all know and love today. (What?? Well of course this blog is a business, quiet, stop interrupting.) Nothing proves this more than a visit from the Three Ghosts of Thanksgiving. Or something like that.

Thanksgiving 2007... Buckets were not for mopping the floor, they were for brining turkeys. My poor, tiny, neglected kitchen floor.

Thanksgiving 2006... My hair was the color of coal. Is that a black sweater, or my hair? It's hard to tell. Even my mom is eyeing me with disgust.

Thanksgiving 2005... Hey! 45 lb. bird! Is that you stuffed in a small oven, causing the smoke detector to go off in this entire apartment complex?? Oops.

And finally, a bonus Thanksgiving Ghost from the same On Fire Holiday of '05... after much, much too much wine...

You all still love me, right?

You're wrong. The last 2 pictures are from the same year. I remember these things because I am not wasted, passed out on the floor on Thanksgiving. (I'm just throwing up in blue garbage cans the day after)

Re-read what I wrote. I know they are from the same year, Sister. Even wasted I knew that.

Oh my. I remember all of these magnificent dinners (even with all of the drama) and unhappy tummy's along the way. But wasn't it a GREAT dinner, and super fun trip to Santa Catalina?? :)

Wow. I have that last photo burned into my brain from that year. Was a very fun and young Thanksgiving!

We call Thanksgiving "Tanksgiving" in my family because there is always a whole lot of wine involved and it usually ends like your last picture. Good times.

i would like to be considered for the shortlist of invitees of 2010. i'll even let you pick which of my world famous dishes i can bring: garlic toast, cinnamon toast, or beans on toast.

ps: i like that Mark is "horrified... horrified... horrified..."

I am also enjoying your Dad's comments. Unfortunately only got to enjoy one of these Thanksgivings with you. But, from what I remember, it was a ball!!
