Cookbook Cover and Pre-Order NOW!

1/12/18

I humbly introduce you to the cover of my first cookbook:

Hi Barbie!  (Look closely.)

I think I'll just sit here for awhile, and wait for this to feel like real life...

Ok, since it may never will, I'll keep going.  This whole process has been a dream come true and yes, a lot of work.  However, it's impossible for me to consider developing recipes, taste-testing creations and writing about food 'work' as the word is defined.  I've loved every minute of this job, and I can't wait to share the book with you on April 17th.  Which brings me to more breaking news...

It's available for pre-order NOW, simply CLICK. THIS. LINK!  I'm on Amazon.  NBD.

Oh, and I'm also at Barnes and Noble, NO, BIG, DEAL.

I may be biased, but I think it would make a great Mother's Day gift :)

This book is for people who, simply put, love food!  It is an approachable, relatable and fun collection of simple recipes, divided into 6 chapters (Happy Hour being my favorite, obviously)...

...and it is designed to demonstrate how I get through my busy days.

I've never been a fan of intimidating recipes, and my philosophy has always been that cooking should not be taken so SIRI-ously.  Do you see what I did there?  My hope is that the recipes in this book becomes go-to, family favorites in your own busy lives!

Before I go, I want to thank you for your continued support and encouragement.  There is no doubt in my mind that I wouldn't be here without YOU, and I appreciate this blogging community more than I can express.  Cheers!  xoxo

Some HUGE news...

7/10/17

I'm beyond thrilled to tell you that I am writing my first cookbook, titled Siriously Delicious.

I'M WRITING A COOKBOOK!

Sorry for shouting at you, but this is the type of news that requires the caps lock button, and happy dances, and celebratory handfuls of chocolate chips (which I guess are different than my regular handfuls of chocolate chips?).  Even to say it out loud, or to see the words on paper, makes me feel giddy.  I am writing my first cookbook, and I am so excited to finally share this news with you.

I am working with TimeInc Books, and the process has been incredible so far!  From recipe development, to taste testing (hard job), to our first photo shoot last week... it has been one pinch-me moment after another.  One of the most incredible was having the gloriously talented Ellen Silverman shoot our lifestyle and cover shots (the magical force behind some of my favorite cookbooks).

Here she is at work...

Mr. Photobomb...

I can't wait to share more of the process with you as we move forward, so continue to check in here or on Instagram or Twitter.  And come back tomorrow for a perfect summer pasta dish!  Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go eat more chocolate chips, and I think you should too.

Edamame & Sugar Snap Pea Salad

7/5/16

When I travel, I pretty much plan out exactly where I'm going to eat for every meal of the day, oh I don't know, months in advance.  The reason for this is simple.  If you were to crack open my brain, you would see little thought bubbles with images of food inside, menus from various restaurants (that I've memorized), a little fat man (I'm convinced) that controls my lack of willpower, etc.  No really, I'm a scientist, you would actually find all of that.  The point is, I love food, and I know exactly where I want to eat when we land in LA... one of those places being Lemonade.  It's funny what you end up missing when you move, and the market-fresh, seasonal salads at Lemonade is right up there with the sunny weather.  Luckily for me, I own their cookbook!  So I can make the dishes I love in the comfort of my own kitchen (I swear this isn't a commercial).  Like this fresh, vibrant, crunchy Edamame and Sugar Snap Pea Salad with a Sesame Vinaigrette.  Perfect for your next summer BBQ.

You can find the recipe here and purchase the cookbook here!

Grilled Cheese and Pickle Panini

6/3/14

The title of this post may have you thinking, "uh oh, Siri has gone off the deep end with her pregnancy cravings."  While this may be true (all I want to do is dip salty McDonald's french fries into a soft serve vanilla cone), a child actually came up with this recipe as the lovely Catherine McCord documents on her website, Weelicious.  A brilliant child, I might add, because this sandwich is the thing dreams are made of.  No really, I had a dream last night that I was selling these at a lemonade stand with a random kid (we were also selling trumpets).

I saw these the other day on the Weelicious instagram page and ran for the ingredients.  I only had bread & butter pickles and shredded cheddar, but I believe any kind of pickle/cheese combination would work beautifully.  And ok, fine, I buttered my bread which the recipe didn't call for but I'm pregnant and I DO WHAT I WANT.  I like butter.  It probably doesn't need butter.

It probably needs to be in your mouth today at lunchtime.

*And quickly, speaking of Instagram, I finally figured out how to separate my private page with my blog page, so please come follow me at siriouslydelicious for fun food-related photos.  Fun!

Turkey Meatloaf with Chipotle Glaze

10/16/13

Sorry for the delay in posting.  Our internet was down, and I also had a million things on my to-do list to tend to.  I accomplished one of them, in case you were wondering, which was showering this morning.  Anyway,  I digress...

Another reason to purchase this book is for this recipe: Mini Turkey Meatloaf with Chipotle Glaze.  I've made many a meatloaf before, but none with such unique ingredients as this one.  Grated sweet potato and zucchini, sauteed with onions, add flavor, richness and nutrition!  Listen to me, I'm like a pocket of health.  Also, instead of the traditional addition of bread crumbs: oats.  Oats!  It made for one delicious meatloaf.  And I will eat any chipotle anything.  Anything.  I didn't take many pictures because I was eating too much.  Also not on my to-do list.  Oops.

Spinach Gnocchi

10/10/12

As I've already told you, I'm a huge fan of the Weelicious cookbook.  Huge.
And so is everyone in my family, adults and kids alike.  Especially kids.  I made this Spinach Gnocchi for Jack the other day and he ate it up.  HUGE point for Mama.  Of course, I called them "Green Cheese Balls."  I know, I know, you're not supposed to disguise what they're eating in order to sneak in the healthy stuff.  Listen, when he can vote for the President, I will reveal what the Green Cheese Balls really are.  Until then, HE'S EATING SPINACH!!!

And so am I, because this recipe is delightful.  Click here for it.

Sole a la Grenobloise

7/7/11

I don't know what that means, but even though it sounds very erect-pinky-fancy, it's relatively simple to make! Delicious too... flaky sole, nutty brown butter, tart lemon and salty capers. YES. (Um, pretend mine didn't fall apart in the pan.) Find the recipe in my BFF's cookbook, or I will paraphrase for you here.

sole, dunked in milk, dredged in flour, pan-fried in hot olive oil and butter...

peeled, cored and sliced lemon circles...

rinsed and drained capers...

butter browning...
(eventually the capers and lemons are added)

sauce spooned over fish, sprinkled with sea salt...

No. You. Di'ent.

Fried Rice with Kale and Scallions

4/19/11

Don't let the name fool you, this is about as healthy as a "fried rice" can get. A tablespoon of vegetable oil and a tablespoon of low-sodium soy sauce combined with brown rice, kale, scallions and garlic. And it's wonderful... slightly nutty, earthy, bright and full of flavor. Still couldn't get Jack to "gobble it up" as Gwyneth says Moses does. Oh yeah, did I mention this is one of her recipes? Did I mention she's my muse?

I never like blatantly copying recipes from cookbooks on this blog, because I like to promote cookbook buying. Of course, if it exists somewhere on the Internet, I will link, because hey, I didn't do it. But I will recap recipes. Recapping isn't illegal.

kale cut into ribbons and then steamed...

finely chopped garlic and scallions, then sauteed in vegetable oil...

kale added...

brown rice and soy sauce added, sauteed a few minutes more...

That recap was pretty much an exact how-to. Oops.

my girl crush and her cookbook...

4/15/11

*Warning: If I come off slightly stalker-ish in this post, it's very real and someone might want to alert Gwyneth's bodyguards.

Remember this cookbook I was talking about? Well, my better half bought it for me, and even though I'm STILL not crazy about the cover... I'M CRAZY ABOUT THE BOOK. A massive variety of food, from homemade sriracha to homemade root beer floats (I'm talking homemade ROOT BEER people). I'm most excited about the 'Perfect Roasted Chinese Duck' that Mario Batali raves about in the forward. Page 179. Bookmarked, gonna make it. Also going to make, a Lobster Cobb...

...and Turkey Bolognese...

...and Duck Ragu...

Look. It's like me and Jack! We are so alike, Gwyneth, cooking for our baby boys!

Would you like to come over to my house for supper? I will resist the urge to braid your hair, I promise.

Excited about this...

But slightly disappointed in the cover. Pretty unoriginal, if you ask me, reminds me of every other cookbook. Thought my 'girl crush' could have come up with something better. But I will still buy, yes. Thoughts?

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

2/17/11

Because, it's Thursday.

Also because I got this book as a birthday present, and I'm a teensy bit obsessed...

Isn't it purty? I keep it out in my kitchen for all to see. Anyway, I decided to try out her cookie recipe, only altering it slightly to use what I had in the house. They are scrumptious.

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
(Makes 20)
Slightly adapted from What To Cook And How To Cook It
Printable Recipe

1 3/4 stick unsalted butter, room temp
3/4 cup fine sugar
1 large egg, yolk only
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups cake flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup oats
Chocolate chips, to taste

Preheat oven to 400. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar with an electric mixer until pale and fluffy. Add egg yolk and vanilla and mix for another couple of seconds, until combined.

Add flour, baking powder and salt. Mix until a stiff dough is formed. Stir in chocolate chips and oats.

Roll dough into 20 balls. Place on baking sheets lined with parchment paper.

Bake 8-10 minutes (my oven only needed 8).

Ex-squeeze me? Baking powder?

I am intrigued. Are you intrigued? I am intrigued. (That's a weird word to spell...)
