Chocolate Stout Cake

The leftovers...

I would have had this post up earlier, but Carson surprised me this morning with a dentist appointment. Yeah, you heard me, he scheduled me a dentist appointment because I keep talking about how I should go. Isn't that cute? Don't you want to squeeze him? Don't you want to grab his throat and really GRIP it hard until it becomes difficult for him to breath? (I am not a fan of the dentist...)

Anyway. Thank you for helping me decide which birthday cake to bake. As if you really couldn't guess, I made the Chocolate Stout Cake. For my last meal on Earth, I want a piece of this thing. And for my first meal in Outer Space, I want a piece of this thing. Rich, rich chocolate that is not too sweet from the beer, moist cake, a ganache of frosting... it weighs as much as my butt and I even decided to make only 2 layers!

If you were wondering if I enjoyed baking my own birthday cake, well, of course I did, as you can see from my happy, chocolate-smeared face...

beer and butter...

eggs and sour cream...

flour and sugar...

chocolate...

and chocolate...

first layer...

assembled cake...

sliced strawberries and thirty candles...

  3. I'm so in love with this cake. It might be as close to Franks as we can get.

  6. Hi Siri! I made this for my husbands birthday today. It is probably the most outrageous cake I have ever made. And it weighs about a gazillion pounds too! What could be better? I taped your Rachel Ray show but have not had a chance to watch it yet but I can't wait! Actually, I am not sure if you will see this on such an old post...hmmm...
